After over nine months of quarantining, I don't think I'm alone in saying I've had to get creative with managing family, work, friendships, time, and my mental health!
Following our duck coloring activity and the trend of coloring as a form of relaxation, we've asked for submissions of snowflakes drawn in the style of a mandala. Mandalas are usually circular geometric patterns. Some people find the drawing and coloring of a mandala as a form of meditation. As you focus on coloring in the patterns of the form, you relax, your mind grows quiet, and you can find a moment of peace among the chaos.
Mandalas have an ancient and rich history across Buddhist, Hindu, and Native American civilizations as a geometric configuration of symbols. Originally meant to represent wholeness and a model for the organizational structure of life itself, we're hoping to capture the more meditative aspect and get excited for the chance of snow this winter.
Please see the below submissions from our neighbors! Submissions are due by Valentines Day when we'll select five participants at random to win $10 gift cards to a Fremont business of their choice. Email info@bwnapdx.org with your submission and the artist's name, and if you need another template, you can download it here.
Let it snow!
